YY1 Step-by-Step Guide

This quick Step-by-Step guide is intended for users who have prior knowledge of the YY1 Pick and Place Machine and users who understand the in-depth process of how to operate the machine. This guide should be used as a checklist or treated as an overview of the steps required to build a board using the YY1 machine.

This guide is not intended for beginners and should not be used as an operational manual. If you are looking for a User Manual or Quick Start Guide on the YY1 PnP Machine, please contact NeodenUSA.

  1. Configure the Machine
    1. Machine Calibration: Enter the Parameters page and follow the directions provided on-screen for the “Up-Looking Camera Calibration” to complete this process.
    2. PCB Origin Setting: Enter the Manual Test page and locate the origin of your loaded PCB using the placement head. Input the coordinates on the Parameters page.
    3. Nozzle Installation: Choose and install the appropriate nozzles for your project
  2. Load the Tapes and Reels
    1. Load your tapes and reels into the machine according to your project’s specifications.
    2. Note/label feeder locations.
  3. Feeder Settings
    1. Enter the Tape Feeder page. Check and set the “Pick Position” and “Needle Position.” Ensure the intersecting red lines are centered over the object. Repeat this process for each feeder.
    2. Set up flexible and bulk feeders (if using)
  4. Load Project File
    1. Load your import file onto the SD card and import it into the machine.
  5. Locate the Fiducial
    1. Enter the Edit Fiducial page and complete “Step 1" by centering the placement head over an easy to find component. Then complete “Step 2" by centering the placement head over your chosen fiducial. Confirm the images are accurate and document the Fiducial X-Y coordinates.
  6. Pick Height and Place Height
    1. Pick Height: Enter the Manual Test page. Center the placement head over one component in a tape feeder and lower the head until it just touches the surface of the component. Calculate the Pick Height.
    2. Place Height: Enter the Manual Test page. Center the placement head over an open area of the PCB and lower the head until it just touches the surface of the board. Calculate the Place Height.
  7. Component Data
    1. Enter the Edit Components page and use the green arrows to select a component.
    2. Input all necessary information for each unique type of component.
  8. Confirm Component Locations
    1. Enter preview mode by entering the Mount Page and clicking the “step” button two-three times. If successful, the gray buttons will turn green.
    2. Cycle through the component list and ensure the resulting images contain intersecting red lines over the center of each component.
  9. Build Your Board
    1. From the Mount Page, press the “play” button to build your board.
