What value is recommended for Pick Delay and Place Delay?
The Pick Delay and Place Delay settings can be adjusted within the Feeder Information tab (see figure below) to improve the accuracy and stability of component handling while in transit. These settings introduce a delay between actions, allowing time for stable picking and precise placement, especially with larger or more delicate components. Adjust these delays based on component size and type to help minimize errors. For initial setup, it is recommended that you start with a 30ms minimum and increase the delay incrementally as needed to optimize performance.
- Pick Delay: The Pick Delay setting determines the pause duration after picking up a component. Larger components and small, delicate components, such as 0402 resistors and capacitors, often benefit from a longer delay to enhance gripping and handling security. A longer delay can help the machine adjust to the component's weight or size and improve the success rate of picking up parts.
- The recommended minimum delay is 30ms, but larger components may require a longer delay, such as 100-200ms, to ensure a secure grip.
- Place Delay: The Place Delay setting controls the pause duration before placing a component onto the PCB. For larger components, increasing the Place Delay can improve placement accuracy by allowing the machine to stabilize the component before releasing it. A longer delay can help minimize the shifting of larger parts during transit and provide more accurate positioning.
- Similar to Pick Delay, the minimum recommended Place Delay is 30ms, with longer delays of up to 200ms recommended for heavier or bulkier components.
