What profiles come pre-programmed on my reflow oven?
Every oven ships with a helpful starting point, and the details differ a little by model.
IN6 and IN6C: These reflow ovens both store 16 individual profiles, and the factory profile that comes loaded is a known working profile for SAC305 paste. If you modify or delete a profile and want the original back, it is recoverable; contact support and we will help you restore it.
IN8C and IN12C: These reflow ovens store 40 individual profiles. These ovens allow you to pick your solder paste type and your PCB material and thickness, and the oven can generate a starting formula automatically. The generated parameters are a general reference, so make sure to measure the actual temperature curve with the included probes and compare it against your paste manufacturer's recommended profile before running production.
When setting up your reflow oven and running boards, use the initial profile as a good starting place, but always test and fine-tune as needed before finalizing production parameters. Board size, solder paste type, component mix, and more all affect how a board reflows, so be sure to run a board, inspect the joints, and adjust the profile.
Helpful tip: the temperature shown on the display is the heating plate temperature, which runs roughly 20 to 40 degrees C higher than the air your board actually experiences. This is why we recommend profiling with the thermocouple probe for testing.
