Does my reflow oven need to be vented outside?

All Neoden USA reflow ovens are designed to work without additional ventilation. Every model has an internal two-stage smoke filtration system, a HEPA filter plus an activated carbon filter, that should make the workspace environment safe.

However, if the oven is in a small enclosed space, we suggest venting the exhaust to the outside if possible. The ovens come with vent adapters that mount over the top fans; from there you can use a standard dryer vent hose to redirect the exhaust to an appropriate place. Plan for the airflow when sizing the run: about 71 CFM per vent on the IN6 and IN6C, and about 105 CFM per vent on the IN8C and IN12C.

If you do add additional venting for the exhaust, passive venting is what we recommend. Installing a large fan at the end of the hose is likely to affect the oven's ability to heat up to temperature. If the hose has to cover a very long distance, use a variable speed fan so you can turn it down if it starts cooling the heating envelope.

The filters have a service life of about 8 months depending on how heavily you use the oven.
